So IMDB sez this: Utopia will follow a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel. The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century and the group soon find themselves targeted by a shadowy organisation known only as The Network.
Things about Utopia:
Sex scene: I lol’d, clear path of causality established, non-exploitative.
Gorillaz-ref soundtrack as the three met: neat, semi-hip, relevant in a roundabout way
Yes I am super-charmed by the Terror Youth With Downtrodden Life drawing from his favourite comic (communication is salvation an’ stuff)
Will the graphic novel actually feature, or is it just a mcguffin that could have been anything?
When will they integrate the whole ‘blackmailed contract vaccine” thing?
But why is blue the feature colour?
Uncomfortable with the sexual assault of children being used as leverage against the heroes, also cannot just assume it IS all a faked trail of evidence without falling in line with the dominant paradigm of “accusations of rape must be assumed to be false”.
Oh my gosh, that red jacket of Becky’s is NICE!
On the whole it is an interesting show. “Nice to see comic enthusiasts written like normal funny sexual people”

“uncomfortable with the sexual assault of children being used as leverage against the heroes, also cannot just assume it IS all a faked trail of evidence without falling in line with the dominant paradigm of “accusations of rape must be assumed to be false”.”
Totally agree with that, and I’m hoping that part of the storyline is disregarded quickly. Other than that blip, i totally enjoyed episode one, and thought it had one of the best representations of drunken shenanigans I’ve ever seeeeeen.
i hope it’s all sorted out in the space of one series. Tight, short stories are the bestest TV.
I reeeally hope it’s all in one as well. Episode two was just as tight as the first one but even less inviting (suicide! murder! battery! family peril! No drunk fun! etc), I dono how much I could take if they decided to drag it beyond the original goalposts.
